Practical advice for event organisers and site managers. No fluff.
Ashbourne sits at the gateway to Dovedale and the southern Peak District, drawing walkers, cyclists, and event organisers year-round. The town's famous Shrovetide football match alone puts enormous short-term pressure on local sanitation infrastructure. Chelford Mobile Services supplies portable toilet hire across Ashbourne and surrounding villages, with rapid deployment for heritage events, agricultural shows, and private functions. We know the terrain, the access restrictions, and the seasonal demand patterns — and we plan accordingly.
Ashbourne is a market town with a national reputation that far exceeds its size. Between Shrovetide, the annual arts festival, and the sheer volume of Peak District visitors passing through, demand for temporary sanitation is consistent and often intense. The town sits right at the southern entrance to the Peak District National Park, and that position means event organisers, builders, and private clients all turn to us regularly.
Ashbourne's narrow streets, conservation area restrictions, and rural access routes mean portable toilet logistics here are never straightforward. We have delivered to farmyards off single-track lanes, positioned units at Tissington Well Dressings, and managed multi-day hires for events on the Ashbourne Recreation Ground. Every one of those jobs taught us something about operating in this part of Derbyshire.
The conservation area imposes specific requirements on the visual impact of temporary structures. We select and position units to satisfy those conditions without compromising on functionality or hygiene standards. Our team carries out a site assessment before every significant hire, identifying the best access routes, the safest placement options, and the most efficient servicing schedule.
From Ashbourne we cover Dovedale, Ilam, Thorpe, Tissington, Norbury, and Rocester. Whether it is a one-day charity walk or a week-long construction project, we deliver on time and collect when agreed. The southern Peak District is characterised by narrow lanes, cattle grids, and gates that test delivery vehicles — our crews know these routes and plan accordingly.
We have supplied portable toilets for events at Tissington Hall, walking festivals that start from Dovedale car park, and agricultural shows on farmland near Mappleton. Each location presents different access and placement challenges, and we handle them all with the same attention to detail.
Ashbourne is seeing steady residential growth, and several heritage restoration projects are underway at any given time. Builders working in conservation zones face tighter restrictions on welfare provision — we supply units that meet those standards without causing planning headaches. Our welfare vans include hot water, heating, and drying facilities, providing a comfortable environment for site workers regardless of season.
For domestic projects — extensions, loft conversions, garden builds — we provide single portable toilet units on flexible hire terms. These are delivered to your driveway or site entrance and serviced on a regular schedule throughout the hire period.
We do not subcontract. Every delivery, service visit, and collection is handled by our own team. That is how we maintain the standards Ashbourne clients expect — and why they come back.
