Practical advice for event organisers and site managers. No fluff.
Reduce queues, improve flow, and keep your event running smoothly. Multi-stall urinal blocks for events of every size.
Put five hundred people in a field with a bar and a row of portable toilets, and within two hours you will have a queue that stretches past the burger van. The problem is simple maths: when people are drinking, they need to urinate more frequently, and a standard toilet cubicle handles one person at a time. A portable urinal block handles four to six simultaneously. The queue disappears.
Chelford Mobile Services supplies portable urinal blocks for festivals, outdoor concerts, sporting events, beer festivals, weddings, bonfire nights, and any gathering where alcohol is part of the programme. They are the single most effective way to reduce queuing at a busy event, and they cost a fraction of adding extra toilet cubicles.
Each urinal block is a freestanding unit with multiple urinal positions arranged around a central waste tank. Users approach from any side, use the urinal, and walk away. There are no doors, no locks, and no waiting. The units are screened for privacy but designed for speed — the entire point is throughput.
Urinal blocks do not replace toilets. They supplement them. Women still need cubicles, and men still need cubicles for anything beyond a quick visit. The correct setup for a drinking event is a combination of standard portable toilets for both sexes, plus urinal blocks positioned at high-traffic points to take the pressure off the cubicle queues.
We supply both from our own fleet, delivered together, serviced together, and collected together. One supplier, one invoice, no coordination headaches.
Getting urinal positioning right makes the difference between a unit that gets used and one that gets ignored while people queue for the cubicles.
The trigger is alcohol. If your event has a bar, a beer tent, or any form of drinks service, you need urinal blocks. Without them, your standard toilets will be overwhelmed within the first couple of hours. The ratio we recommend is one urinal block for every three to four standard portable toilets at a drinking event.
For events without alcohol — family fun days, school fetes, agricultural shows — urinal blocks are less critical, though they still help reduce queuing at peak times.
Place urinal blocks where the men are. That usually means near the bar, near the main stage, near the food area, and at the exit points. Do not tuck them behind the toilets in a quiet corner — they need to be visible and accessible, or people will default to the nearest cubicle regardless.
If your event has multiple drinking areas, spread the urinals accordingly. Two blocks near two bars will always outperform four blocks behind one toilet row.
