Practical advice for event organisers and site managers. No fluff.
Chester is a city that never quite stops building, restoring, or celebrating. Between the racecourse fixtures, the river festivals, the Christmas markets, and the relentless cycle of heritage restoration work within the city walls, there is year-round demand for portable toilet hire that actually works — delivered on time, serviced properly, and positioned by someone who understands that a unit dropped in the wrong spot on a narrow Chester street causes more problems than it solves. Chelford Mobile Services has been handling toilet hire in Chester and the surrounding villages for years.
Chester presents a unique set of challenges for any supplier. The city centre is a conservation area with restricted vehicle access, tight delivery windows, and streets that were laid out for medieval foot traffic, not modern logistics. We know which routes work, which times to avoid, and where units can be practically positioned without blocking pedestrian flow or falling foul of the council.
Chester Racecourse hosts fixtures from May through to September, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the Roodee. We have supplied portable toilet units for events at and around the racecourse, and we understand the logistical pressures that come with race-day crowds and restricted setup windows.
Beyond the races, Chester's event calendar includes:
For each of these, we tailor the number and type of units to the expected attendance, the duration, and the available space.
Chester's listed buildings, conservation zones, and archaeological sensitivities mean that construction projects here often come with additional regulatory requirements. Welfare provision is no exception — units need to be positioned carefully, servicing must be discreet, and documentation needs to be thorough.
Outside the walls, the business parks along the A55, the residential developments at Huntington and Upton, and the ongoing growth around Chester Business Park all require straightforward site welfare provision.
We do not just cover the city itself. Our Chester service routes extend to Christleton, Waverton, Tattenhall, Mickle Trafford, Mollington, and across to the retail parks at Broughton. If you are working or hosting an event within a fifteen-mile radius of the Cross, we cover it.
We turn up when we say we will. In a city where parking is scarce and delivery slots are tight, that is not a platitude — it is a commercial necessity. Our drivers know Chester, and they plan accordingly.
For Chester Races, river festivals, weddings, and outdoor events across the city.
