Practical advice for event organisers and site managers. No fluff.
Stretford is defined by two things: Old Trafford football ground and Old Trafford cricket ground. Between them, they generate some of the highest-volume portable toilet hire demand in Greater Manchester. But Stretford is more than its stadia — Longford Park hosts community events, the Stretford Food and Drink Festival draws growing crowds, and residential construction across the Trafford corridor keeps demand steady year-round. Chelford Mobile Services covers Stretford with the capacity and precision this high-demand area requires.
Stretford is home to two of the most famous sporting venues in the world. Old Trafford — the Theatre of Dreams — hosts Manchester United fixtures, international concerts, and major entertainment events. Lancashire Cricket Club's Emirates Old Trafford stages Test matches, Ashes series, one-day internationals, and summer music events. Between them, these two venues generate some of the highest-volume portable toilet hire demand in the whole of Greater Manchester.
But Stretford is more than its stadia. The town has a genuine community life, with Longford Park providing a major green space for events, the Stretford Food and Drink Festival drawing growing crowds, and the residential areas hosting their own programme of street parties, garden events, and community celebrations.
Major event days at the Old Trafford stadia bring tens of thousands of people into a concentrated area. The sanitation requirements extend beyond the venues themselves — overflow car parks, fan zones, corporate hospitality areas, ancillary event spaces, and surrounding streets all need portable toilet provision.
We provide supplementary sanitation for these ancillary areas, coordinating with venue management, event organisers, and Trafford Council to ensure units are positioned correctly, serviced to the intensity the event demands, and removed promptly after the event concludes. Concert events at both venues — which can draw over 70,000 people — require particularly intensive provision and servicing.
Beyond the stadia, Stretford has a genuine community life that generates its own portable toilet hire demand. Longford Park is a major green space — home to Longford Park Parkrun, summer galas, outdoor theatre performances, and community bonfire events. The growing food and drink scene brings street festivals, outdoor markets, and pop-up events.
The residential areas between the stadia and the town centre host their own events — street parties, school sports days, scout group activities, and garden parties. We provide the same standards of service for a school fête as we do for a stadium concert.
The Trafford corridor — from Stretford through to Trafford Park industrial estate and the Trafford Centre — is one of Greater Manchester's most active construction zones. Commercial developments, industrial refurbishments, residential projects, and infrastructure improvements generate sustained welfare hire demand.
We supply HSE-compliant welfare vans for major commercial and industrial projects and portable toilet units for domestic construction. Every hire includes servicing, and waste disposal is documented for site compliance.
We manage every hire in Stretford with our own fleet and our own team. No subcontractors, no brokers, no outsourced delivery. When the demand is this high and the events are this visible, direct control is not optional — it is essential. That is how we operate, and it is why Stretford clients trust us.
